Thank goodness for Mario! Snoety’s hair expert shares his recipes for nurturing pre- and post-sun summer hair …
Along with July comes summer “straw” hair . To avoid dryness and to keep your hair’s shine and moisture, here’s a make-it-yourself at-home remedy along with some advice on sunscreen …
An AT-HOME TREATMENT that I guarantee works:
Ingredients include:
- 2 Tablespoons of your favorite conditioner
- 1 Tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1 egg (if you’re allergic, don’t include)
The oil restores the shine; the avocado and egg provide the vitamins hair needs. If you have a blender, mix the ingredients well while adding the oil gradually so there won’t be any separation; If you don’t have a blender just mix or stir well altogether.
Put a damp towel or microfiber cloth into the microwave to steam — don’t let it get too hot! Wrap it around your hair and leave on for 20-30 minutes.
Wash and condition your hair in the usual way.
SUMMER SUNSCREEN to AVOID DAMAGED HAIR
Don’t think that sunscreen is just for you saving your skin; it saves your hair, too. And it’s not just to avoid dryness … if your hair is colored, sunscreen also keeps it from fading.
Use the highest sun-screen you can buy. I tell my clients to go for SPF75. And, it doesn’t have to be formulated just for the hair. Your regular sunscreen — the one you use for your body — works well for your hair, too.
Add more sunscreen just before jumping into the water and add it again when you get out.
Go for your best summer hair,
Mario
